GNEP Industry Participation
DOE first solicited input from industry in August 2006, through a Request for Expressions of Interest (EOI). Information about the industry EOIs can be found below under the section titled, "EOI for Industry".
In May 2007, DOE issued a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for GNEP Studies, providing financial assistance to selected applicants to perform analyses to help inform a decision on the potential GNEP path forward, including the design of initial nuclear fuel recycling facilities and fast reactors as well as technology development plans and business plans to close the nuclear fuel cycle in the United States. Information related to the FOA can be found below under the section titled "Industry Reports".
Four industry teams (consortia) executed cooperative agreements with DOE and have obtained funding through September 2008 with the possibility of continuation funding through September 2009, to develop conceptual designs, technology development roadmaps and business plans for potential deployment and commercialization of recycling and reactor technologies.
Industry Reports:
Below are links to summary reports and presentations delivered to DOE in the spring of 2008 from each of the four industry consortia. While these reports and summaries are based upon work supported by DOE, the views and opinions expressed by the industry consortia are solely their own and do not necessarily represent the policies, positions, or decisions of DOE or the U.S. Government. This information was developed to better inform the Department on industry perspectives regarding closing the fuel cycle in the United States, and is provided here to also inform the public on these matters.
